Exponent Joins the Maritime Battery Forum to Advance Safe and Sustainable Maritime Electrification
The Netherlands, 7th July 2025 – The Maritime Battery Forum (MBF) is proud to welcome Exponent, a globally renowned engineering and scientific consulting firm, as the newest member of our global community of maritime battery enablers.
Exponent brings over 20 years of experience in battery technology consulting, having supported industries worldwide through deep technical insight, multidisciplinary analysis, and rigorous problem-solving. With a team of more than 950 consultants spanning 90+ disciplines, Exponent is uniquely equipped to address complex scientific and engineering challenges — including those associated with lithium-ion battery systems that are increasingly integral to the maritime industry’s decarbonization goals.
Exponent’s work in failure analysis, incident investigation, and litigation support has positioned the firm as a trusted partner in some of the most sensitive and critical battery-related projects globally. Over the past five years, the company has expanded its focus to include maritime electrification, bringing its cross-disciplinary knowledge to bear on the performance, reliability, and safety of battery systems onboard vessels.
Currently, Exponent is engaged in litigation support related to lithium-ion battery failures resulting in vessel loss and is proactively partnering with maritime clients — including defense sector stakeholders — to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies for battery applications on commercial and military vessels.
