Beyonder & Leclanché signs Memorandum of Understanding

Beyonder AS, a leading battery technology company in Norway and Leclanché SA, a world leading provider of high-quality energy storage solutions, are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enter negotiations regarding a collaboration on the development of the manufacturing-process and to allow scale production of Beyonder‘s BePowered cell at Leclanche’s premises in Germany.

This MoU outlines a strategic partnership where Leclanché will aim to manufacture Beyonder’s proprietary cell chemistry at its state-of-the-art facility in Willstätt, Germany. Both companies will explore the possibility of leveraging their proprietary technologies to develop high-performance, sustainable energy storage solutions. This includes studying the integration of Beyonder’s advanced cell chemistry with Leclanché’s water-based electrode binding processes.

Synergies and roadmap to European production

The collaboration emphasizes the use of sustainable materials and processes, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon footprints and promote clean energy. The two companies will explore synergies in several areas: utilization of production capacity, competence pool, products – to be further explored.

Tove Nilsen Ljungquist, CEO of Beyonder AS states;

- We're thrilled to partner with Leclanché to bring our battery technology to relevant markets. This potential partnership is a big step for us, and aligned with our long-term strategy, as it helps us tap into Leclanché's production capabilities and plan for future manufacturing in Europe. There's a clear need for European production of our high-power cell BePowered, especially in the defense sector. Working with Leclanché, one of the most experienced cell producers in Europe, will allow us to share knowledge and expertise, paving the way for our growth.

Pierre Blanc, CEO and CTIO of Leclanché SA continues:

- Leclanché is committed to advancing energy storage technologies that reduce carbon footprints. Our potential partnership with Beyonder aligns perfectly with our mission to explore sustainable and high-performance energy solutions. By combining our advanced manufacturing processes with Beyonder’s innovative cell chemistry, we aim to explore the possibility of producing high-quality batteries at scale. This collaboration also helps us explore new outsourcing partners, optimizing production capacity and meeting the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.
